TFD
Display (Thin Film Diode)
TFD stands for 'Thin Film Diode'. It is
a form of liquid crystal display flat-panel display technology.
TFD uses an active-matrix. A diode located next to each
pixel allows the pixel to be turned on and off.
The technology allows for faster response
time and produces higher contrast and increased brightness
compared to passive-matrix STN technology.
While TFD matches the image quality and
superior response times of TFT, it is cheaper to manufacture
as it uses the lower power consumption drive technnology
of STN.
